When viewing an existing Range Rover Autobiography, start with the identity and history of that specific car. A current model brochure cannot establish the equipment, condition or maintenance history of an earlier vehicle, even when the badge looks the same.
Before the viewing
Ask for the VIN, production details, service records and a written list of known faults or repairs. Confirm that the seller can provide documents supporting the vehicle’s identity and ownership. Compare the configuration with the appropriate model-year information rather than assuming it matches today’s India model selector.
Arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection with a specialist familiar with the vehicle. A showroom checklist supplements that inspection; it cannot certify the condition of the engine, transmission, air suspension or electronic systems.
Record what works
- With the seller’s permission, operate the fitted seat adjustments and cabin controls. Note any fault messages or functions that do not respond.
- Check doors, tailgate and luggage-area operation without forcing a mechanism. Record damage and inconsistent operation for the specialist.
- Inspect visible tyres and wheels and ask the specialist to assess age, wear, matching specifications and repair concerns.
- Try your intended passenger and luggage arrangement. An attractive rear-seat package may not match the way your household travels.
Keep the driving assessment factual
Only drive with appropriate permission and cover. Record warning messages, unfamiliar noises or behaviour and the conditions in which they occur. Do not diagnose a costly fault from a brief drive or accept a verbal promise that an alert is harmless. Ask the inspecting specialist to document findings and estimated remedial work.
Price the particular vehicle
Request written terms for any warranty or approved-used cover, including exclusions and claim procedures. Account for work identified by the inspection and any missing maintenance evidence when assessing the asking price. A clean cabin or a recent detail does not replace service records.
If you are configuring a new vehicle instead, the Autobiography LWB order guide addresses that process. This page is a preparation checklist and makes no claim that CarsInformation inspected the seller’s car.
Sources and scope
Sources checked on 2 October 2026. This is an editorial research guide, not a CarsInformation road test. The practical checks and worked examples are our analysis; manufacturer specifications are attributed above.
Correction: Replaced a near-duplicate new-car review with a distinct used-car inspection guide and removed unsupported test claims. Unverified photographs from the previous version have been removed.
